During my time at university, I worked with OTHERWORLD, an award-winning VR arcade based in London that merges physical environments with deeply immersive digital worlds. The company operates high-end VR pods that transport visitors into fully interactive experiences — combining visual, spatial, and sensory design to create one of the most advanced entertainment environments in the UK. My role focused on the technical and operational side of the experience, supporting both guests and internal systems to ensure seamless performance during live sessions.

Through technical precision and automation, I helped optimize the performance of a live, high-traffic VR environment — reducing session setup time, improving system stability, and enhancing the visitor experience.

My Role

I was part of the on-site technical operations team, responsible for maintaining and optimizing the VR infrastructure. This involved hands-on troubleshooting across VR hardware, networking setups, and motion tracking systems to guarantee stable real-time performance. I also wrote a series of automation scripts (primarily in Bash) to streamline routine maintenance tasks — such as system reboots, session resets, and performance logging — helping reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency between guest rotations. Beyond maintenance, I collaborated with developers using Unreal Engine to test and refine environmental builds, ensuring that visual fidelity and performance metrics met the high standards required for public VR installations.
